Wellspring Green Step

Green Step is a program of Wellspring which invites community members to learn about Christian environmental stewardship and to take one significant action toward environmental conservation between April and October 2023. We believe that God the Creator calls us to be careful stewards of the Earth, and that by answering that call, we can transform our lives and our world for the better.

How does it work?

Learn

Wellspring community members can learn more about Christian environmental stewardship at church services and small group sessions in the spring, summer, and fall of 2023.

You can also find us at the Green Step table in the Brightwell Place after the 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. church services to get more information and ask questions.

Act

Decide on which Green Step you want to take. Everyone’s circumstances and abilities are different–choose a step that works with your available time, resources, and interests. Take that action between April 2023 and October 2023.

If it’s a big step, make a check list and break it into smaller pieces, tell a friend or fellow community member about your intention to take that step, and report back to the Green Step team about the challenges and joys you encounter along the way.

Share

When you complete your chosen Green Step, tell members of the Green Step team by finding our table on Sunday morning or fill out this form.

Once your step is complete and recorded, it’s official! You’ll earn a Green Leaf badge to wear on your Wellspring nametag. This tells the Wellspring Community that you have accomplished one big difference-making goal for environmental conservation.

What counts as a “Green Step?”

There are so many choices! A Green Step may mean rainwater collection, shifting your financial investments, or meeting with elected officials to advocate for environmental conversation.

You can check out the full list of eligible steps here: Action List

For folks under 18, there are steps that you can take too. You’ll find our list of Green Steps for children and youth here

Green Step Ambassadors

Green Step Ambassadors are volunteers who can help answer questions, point you to conservation resources, and journey alongside you. You can find the full list of ambassadors here.

You’re welcome to find them at the Green Step table on Sunday mornings.

Is Your Green Step Complete?

If you’ve completed your Green Step, let us know by finding our table between services on Sunday morning or by filling out this form.

Make sure that you take the step between April 2023 and October 2023; if you can, snap a photo of it.

A member of the Green Step team will follow up to award your Green Leaf badge.
